Canadians vs. Telemarketers: Mark September 30/2008 on Your Calendar
The Canadian National Do Not Call list goes live on the end of the month. It appears that anyone who registered on the CMA Do Not Contact List will need to re-register. I just hope that the legislation has teeth.
What has 'piqued' my interest are recent calls from a company called 'Card Holder Services'. An outfit by a similar name was under investigation by the Attorney General of Oklahama in 2007. It would appear that asking to be removed from their list takes 72 hours. Or perhaps that just means tels them that they have a 'live one' and call again (from a different number).
And for another approach to dealing with telemarketers: The downside of card-holder services. Probably not safe in some jurisdications - you might get sued for injuries inflicted on the poor telemarketer.
